March 2017 Alumni eNewsletter

Dear Simpson University Alumni,
I wanted to let you know about an update in our accrediting status and ask for your prayers and support as we move forward, in confidence and anticipation.
We have been accredited as a university for nearly 50 years with the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC).
Simpson University received an action letter from WSCUC on March 15 that continues the university's accreditation (a good thing!), with a status of probation. Probation means we have two years to demonstrate significant progress in the areas of strategic planning and financial sustainability. We take this seriously and have already been addressing these two areas of concern identified by WSCUC.

Grab those Bikes!
Simpson University is excited to roll out the 2nd Annual Red Hawk Ride — a multi-distance, fun, family-friendly bicycle ride and run with routes of 6.2 (10K), 25, 50, and 100 miles. On Saturday, April 8, 2017, the ride will roll through beautiful rural northern California with majestic Mt. Shasta and Mt. Lassen as the backdrop. The purpose of this event is to promote healthy living in our greater Redding and Nor Cal communities while raising scholarship money for Simpson students, many of whom are local.

"It is Well" Concert
More than 1,000 people gathered for a free collaborative worship concert March 3 featuring Simpson University choral ensembles and Redding-based singer-songwriter Kristene DiMarco and her band.
The "It Is Well" concert was directed by Dr. Cyril Myers Jr. and showcased Simpson music students and faculty, the Simpson Chorale, and Trinity Repertory Singers. Members of the Weaverville Community Chorus joined the groups onstage for a rousing number titled “Hope for Resolution.”
