Simpson University President Announces Retirement in 2018
President Robin Dummer has announced that he will retire at the end of the 2017-18 academic year.
Dr. Dummer said he and his wife decided earlier this spring that he would retire at the end of May 2018 when his current presidential contract ends. “It was my desire to provide the Board of Trustees with sufficient time to conduct a presidential search,” he said. “The Board was gracious, encouraging and honoring in response.”
He said his priorities during the upcoming academic year will be on positioning the university for growth. “My focus this coming year will be on fundraising, strategic planning, increasing strategic partnerships, and diversifying the sources of revenue for the university.”

Dr. Leonard S. Wallmark
The Simpson community is saddened by the death of Dr. Leonard S. Wallmark, alumnus and long-time professor of Simpson. Dr. Wallmark, 85, went home to be with the Lord on May 15, 2017, in Redding, Calif.
He began his studies at Simpson Bible College in 1955 and graduated in 1959 with a bachelor’s degree in theology, going on to earn a master of divinity and a doctorate in ministry from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. In 1964, after serving as a pastor for several years, he began teaching New Testament courses part time at Simpson, receiving a full-time contract in 1966. He taught full time at Simpson until 2002, retiring at age 70. Although officially retired, he continued to teach as an adjunct. His more than forty years of service to Christ as a Simpson professor impacted the lives of thousands of students.
A memorial service will be held at Neighborhood Church in Redding on June 17 at 1 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, gifts be made to the Wallmark Family Scholarship Fund at Simpson University (530-226-4758). If you wish to make a gift or share thoughts, click the box below.

Dr. Robert Hughes
It is with a deep sense of loss that we inform the Simpson community that Dr. Robert Hughes passed away May 17. Dr. Hughes was a valuable and faithful member of the ASPIRE Psychology program since 2006. Students consistently rated him as their favorite instructor. He received the Teacher of the Year award twice during his time with us. Students and staff alike enjoyed his passion for his chosen profession, his joy of teaching, his ability to make learning fun, and his obvious love for God and others. He will be greatly missed.

Simpson University to Host 3rd Annual Better Together: CA Teachers Summit
On July 28, the third annual Better Together: California Teachers Summit will bring teachers across the state together for a powerful day of learning led by teachers, for teachers. The Summit is a unique opportunity for teachers to come together to collaborate, re-energize ahead of the new school year and be a part of a teacher network that will last beyond the Summit. Building on momentum from the past two years, the Summit will feature TED-style EdTalks presented by local teachers, Edcamp discussions on teacher-selected topics, and opportunities for networking and sharing ideas and resources with fellow teachers. By bringing California teachers together, the Summit will empower teachers to support our students, protect our values as educators and set an example for the nation.
