Classes will be held back to back from 10:20am - 11:20am and 11:30am - 12:30pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in the Grubbs Learning Center Room 116 on the Simpson University campus.

1. Voyage to the Stars and Galaxies: A Scientific Perspective on God's Creation.

10:20 AM - 11:20 AM: You are invited to come on a series of voyages to explore God’s creation through the lens of modern astronomy. Out there we will find vast, awesome, and magnificent realms-full of objects that have no counterparts on Earth. We will examine our solar system and the observable universe beyond as seen by Space Telescope. Presenter: Robert Hollenbeck

 

 

2. The Fighting French: 10 battles or wars that shaped the France of today.

11:30 AM - 12:30 PM: From Vercingetorix to Algeria, France has been marked by battles and wars that have shaped and formed her cultural makeup. This course will take a look at those different conflicts to help us discover the France of today. Ray Simon

1. Selected Topics in the History of Christianity.

10:20-11:20 AM: This course will focus on 10 of the most important events in Christian history and present them to an audience without any need for further knowledge of the history of the faith. It includes things like the Rise of Constantine, the creation of medieval monastic systems, the Wars of Religion, and the Liberal/ Fundamentalist divide of the 20th century. Presenter: Tim Orr

 

 

2. World War II: The Pacific Theater.

11:30 AM - 12:30 PM: A survey of the rise of the Japanese Empire in the 19th century, and how Western actions and attitudes encouraged this East Asian nation to challenge Western world empires.  The major military actions leading to the expansion and collapse of the Japanese Empire will be reviewed.
